I like fountain pens and paper. I’m not obsessive you know; I just start the morning out by scribbling words on a piece of scrap paper and trying to decide whether to go Private Reserve Avocado green, or Black Cherry, or Midnight Blues, or Waterman South Seas Blue. I write in notebooks when using Word would normally be considered more convenient because I like the feel of a nib on paper the look of the ink.
I’m loyal to favorite lines of notebooks and paper, but I flirt with others. Apicas are my mainstays, along with the small black Piccadilly notebooks sometimes found at Borders, but I’ve been seen writing in a Rhodia notebook, and I recently picked up a Japanese Midori ‘envelope’ notebook. We haven’t gone anywhere yet, it’s a little too soon…
My favorite pens are a Parker 51 midnight blue with a gold filled cap and fine point nib, and a Prussian Blue Waterman Carene with a nib ground to a cursive italic, and a Waterman Expert II in copper with the most perfect fine point nib in the world. Beyond those, are an ivory Waterman Charleston and an amber Pelikan M250 demonstrator.
Inks: Private Reserve and Waterman.
I write fiction and some non-fiction. I often draft stories on paper before taking them to Word. I take photographs and like going on photography expeditions with like-minded friends. I play a traditional American instrument called the Mountain Dulcimer, acoustic guitar and am attempting (in a sad fashion) to learn piano on a Yamaha keyboard. I like Celtic music (Enya, Clannad, Altan) and folk music, jazz and classical.
Cats: Maine Coons. Three of them. They own the house, we are their staff. If their PR department allows it, I may write about them…
Cat, music, and writing…three of my favorite things in the world. (You left out books, tea, and chocolate, but oh well).
I have been enjoying reading your posts here. Please do continue to write, to lure the unwary toward Staples, to dangle the promise of more CTS chapters, to tantalize with descriptions of colorful inks and smooth vs textured papers.
Who knows, maybe you’ll find convert an unsuspecting friend to a FP addict. It’s always possible!
What is that very nice place pictured on your banner? It looks so familiar…
I wish I knew. It’s a stock photo that came with the WordPress skin. I like it so much that I haven’t felt pressed to replace it with one of my own photos.
